Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

Information you provide directly:

• Email address (for login via one-time code)
• Display name and username
• Age/date of birth (used to verify you are 18+)
• Gender and gender preference
• Location (state and district)
• Bio text
• Social media handles (X, Instagram, LinkedIn) — optional
• Photos you upload (up to 6)
• Bid/payment amounts and history

Information collected automatically:

• Basic technical data such as IP address, browser type, and device information, collected for security, fraud prevention, and to keep the Platform functioning correctly.
• Usage data such as pages visited and actions taken on the Platform (e.g. bids placed, profiles viewed), used to operate and improve the service.

Information from third parties:

• Payment confirmation data from Razorpay (we do not receive or store your full card, UPI, or bank account details — these are handled directly by Razorpay).

2. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and operate your account and profile.
• Display your public profile and ranking position to other eligible members, based on your location and gender/preference settings.
• Process bid payments and update leaderboard rankings accordingly.
• Reveal your social handles to another member only after a mutual match, per the Platform's core design.
• Send you transactional emails (login codes, payment confirmations, important account notices).
• Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Community Rules or Terms.
• Maintain basic analytics to understand and improve Platform usage.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we do not use your data for advertising purposes.

3. What's public vs. private

• Your display name, age, gender, location (state/district), photos, bio, and current rank are visible to any other member who is a reciprocal match (and, on the public landing page, to visitors without an account, subject to social handles remaining hidden).
• Your social handles (X/Instagram/LinkedIn) are hidden from other members until you and they have mutually matched.
• Your email address and exact bid payment details are never shown to other members — only your current rank and bid amount tier are visible as part of the leaderboard mechanic.

4. How we share information

We share information with:

• Supabase (our database, authentication, and file storage provider) — hosts all platform data.
• Razorpay (our payment processor) — processes bid payments; receives only the information necessary to complete a transaction.
• Resend (our transactional email provider) — sends login codes and account emails; receives your email address for this purpose.
• Law enforcement or authorities, where required by law, to protect the safety of our members, or to investigate fraud, abuse, or illegal activity (including content involving minors, which we will report as required by law).

We do not share your information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

5. Data retention

• We retain your account data for as long as your account is active.
• If you delete your account, we will delete your profile, photos, and personal identifying information within [7 days], except where we are required to retain certain records (e.g. payment/transaction records) for legal, tax, or accounting purposes, which we retain only as long as legally required.
• Since BidaDate is a time-limited project, if the Platform is discontinued entirely, we will provide notice where practical and delete stored personal data within a reasonable period after shutdown, except records we're legally required to retain.

6. Your rights

You can:

• Access and update most of your profile information directly via your Profile page at any time.
• Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Request deletion of your account and associated personal data.
• Withdraw consent for optional data (e.g. social handles, bio) at any time by removing it from your profile.

7. Data security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including access controls (Row Level Security on our database) and secure, encrypted connections. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children's privacy

BidaDate is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from minors. If we become aware that a minor has created an account, we will remove the account and associated data promptly.

9. Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and to maintain basic session security. We do not currently use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above when we do. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
